Note that this system is slightly different from the ranked-choice system, sometimes known as “single transferrable vote,” which was used in last year’s primary for two county board seats. Arlington elections officials will report results for voters’ first choices on election night, said Tania Griffin, a spokeswoman for the county’s election office.
