Marketing agencies struggle to find talent to hire for high-turnover roles, and service workers face difficulties up-skilling. SkillBank is a marketing mentorship and training platform dedicated to helping service workers up-skill and gain employment as marketers.

: What were the particular limitations of live-training programs that SkillBank delivered early on?: Live training fails to take the fellow’s learning style’s into consideration. If you’re a fellow of SkillBank, we want you to learn at your own pace. We don’t want you to worry about holding your class back or getting bored because you can’t move forward.

Most cohort-based programs also have projects, but class time is spent listening to an instructor teach, and then the fellows do projects on their own time. I ran a ghostwriting and copywriting agency for two years before I started SkillBank. Through that business, I learned how an agency works. I also worked on contracts with many other startups and VCs and learned growth marketing on the job. Shiraz Sultan is our Head of Admissions. Before SkillBank, he was the Regional Director of Admissions at Coding Dojo. His prior bootcamp experience has helped us make sure we are setting the right framework to grow and succeed as an organization.
