The X1 goes electric
There’s no shortage of electric and electrified choices over at BMW . If anything, it has the widest variety of battery-powered models in the country. But BMW wants to further solidify its position as the top of mind luxury electric vehicle brand of choice in the local market.
Which is why BMW Philippines launched not one but two all-new EVs recently. These models are the iX1 and the iX2 Sports Activity Coupe. It’s the iX1 that we’ll take a look at first, followed by the iX2.AXCR 2024: Mitsubishi makes up ground to take P2; Toyota still leading at halfway pointLocally, the BMW iX1 comes in one variant. It wears the XLine exterior package that gives this crossover more presence. There are dark grey trims and fender extensions that surround the lower half of car.
There are several exterior cues that differentiate the iX1 from the fuel-fed X1. The most noticeable is the grille with a patterned panel replacing the traditional grille slats. At the back, one will notice the absence of exhaust pipes because, well, it doesn’t need it. Lastly, there are blue highlights behind the BMW roundels features throughout its body. For those who already own the gas-powered X1, it will all look familiar in this electric version.
The XLine pack adds contrast stitching on its door panels and leather seats, while power seats with memory are standard. The signature floating center console is present, and a Harman/Kardon sound system should please the audiophiles. What we get in the Philippines is the eDrive20 model. That means it comes with a 67kWh battery that gives it a range of up to 474km, depending on conditions.
