A speeding driver killed 8 people and left 6 injured in North Las Vegas after running a red light and plowing into multiple vehicles, police say.
A speeding car killed eight people and injured six others when the driver ran a red light and plowed into multiple vehicles in North Las Vegas, police said Sunday.
Young juveniles were among those killed in the crash, which happened around 3 p.m. local time , said Alexander Cuevas, a North Las Vegas police spokesperson. He said the driver of the Dodge Challenger was also killed. “The driver ran the red light, striking multiple vehicles,” Cuevas said, adding that it was unknown whether the driver had been impaired. “Speed is a factor,” he said.
Cuevas said two people were transported to the University Medical Center hospital and that one died there.Cuevas said at a news conference later that the coroner would release the identities of the dead and their causes and manners of death. North Las Vegas City Council member Pamela Goynes-Brown said at the news conference that her “thoughts and prayers” were with “families dealing with loss due to a senseless act.”
