Voyager set up its crew relationships well.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Star Trek: Voyager set up a number of important crew relationships as early as its second episode. Although the Star Trek franchise is known for its sci-fi concepts and utopian vision of the future, one of the things that makes each project work so well is the relationship dynamics between the main cast of characters.
9 Harry & Tuvok Harry and Tuvok , had limited screen time in "Parallax", but the one scene they shared showed exactly the kind of relationship they would have going forward. During the scene, Harry attempted to get Tuvok to gossip about the ongoing tension between the Starfleet and Maquis crew, clearly interested in his take on the situation. In typical Vulcan fashion, Tuvok shut Harry down, stating that the situation was under control and refusing to blow it out of proportion.
7 The Doctor & Kes Kes and the Doctor's relationship in the first few seasons of Voyager is truly enjoyable, and "Parallax" showcased the beginnings of what made it so great. During the episode, Kes was the only member of the crew to treat the Doctor like a person rather than a tool to be used only when needed. This in turn brought out the Doctor's softer, more vulnerable side, showing the very beginnings of his humanity well before he began fully exploring it.
4 Tom & Neelix The scene in the briefing room in "Parallax" also set up the idea of Tom and Neelix's antagonism that would be a fixture of some later episodes. One of the less-than-endearing things about Neelix and Kes's relationship was Neelix's jealous streak, and although it wasn't showcased overtly in "Parallax", the look Neelix gave Tom when he offered Kes his chair certainly planted the seeds for it.
