The Supreme Court has barred the accountability courts from issuing final judgments in trials that landed before them after the apex court annulled the amendments to the National Accountability Laws.
A five-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, was cautious to proceed further in the appeal proceedings before a detailed judgment is issued.
A three-member bench, led by former Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, ordered the restoration of cases against politicians by 2-1 that were earlier withdrawn in the wake of amendments. The 5-member bench adjourned the proceedings till detailed reasonings are issued by the three-member bench. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah dissented with the majority order and issued his 27-page dissenting note yesterday.
