Heavy monsoon rain accompanied by strong winds lashed eastern parts of Punjab, including Lahore, early Monday morning, turning the weather pleasant, but at the same time inundating low-lying areas and resulting in power cuts, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The rain was particularly heavy in northern and central parts of Lahore such as Shimla Paharri, Davis Road, Garhi Shahu, The Mall and other areas. As per the figures released by the Water and Sanitation Agency , Qartaba Chowk area of the provincial capital received the highest amount of rainfall, totaling 110 millimeters, followed by Lakshmi Chowk 105 millimeters, Gulberg 76 millimeters, Pani Wala Talab 72 millimeters, Gulshan Ravi 61 millimeters, Mughalpura 53 millimeters, Nishtar Town 51 millimeters, Upper Mall 49 millimeters, Chowk Na Khuda and Jail Road 48 millimeters each, Samanabad 41 millimeters, Tajpura 40 millimeters, Allama...
Several feeders of Gujranwala Electric Power Company were tripped following the rain due to which the supply of electricity to different parts of the city was disrupted. Rain and strong winds were also reported from Daska which although turned the weather pleasant but at the same time several localities of the city without electricity.Rain also lashed Kasur and its outskirts, which brought smiles to the people’s faces.
