Poliovirus detected in environmental samples from three more districts in Pakistan, raising health concerns.
The spread of poliovirus in Pakistan has further increased, as the poliovirus was detected in environmental samples in three additional districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh, alongside eight previously affected districts, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.Between August 5th and 7th, the poliovirus was detected in environmental samples from various districts, including Kirk, Sajawal, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Hyderabad.
The virus was also found in Quetta, Chaman, Loralai, Zhob, and Pishin, as well as in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. This year, a total of 15 children across the country have been infected with polio. The virus has been detected in environmental samples from 62 districts nationwide, indicating that all children in Pakistan remain at constant risk of contracting the disease.
