Benson, who denied there was any romance between them, agreed that Levington raised the possibility of buying a home together but insisted that she was never interested in such a proposal. Levington agreed to provide the money, claiming that the funds were advanced as part of purchasing an ownership stake in the home. Benson initially claimed that the money was a loan but later characterized the contribution as a gift, a position disputed by Levington.
Levington said that the two of them finally made arrangements in July 2020 to see a notary in order to arrange for his 20 per cent interest in the home to be formally reflected on title and that she accompanied him to see the notary and sign the real estate documents. Benson flatly denied she attended the notary’s office and, in a bizarre twist, claimed her signature on the transfer documents was a forgery.
