The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the girl killed in a drunken-driving-related crash on the West Side as 8-year-old Nicole Marae Vidales.
An 8-year-old girl was killed in a drunken-driving-related crash on the West Side and a driver has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.A preliminary report from SAPD states that the girl was riding in the backseat of a 2009 Dodge Journey that was heading southbound on General McMullen.
At some point, the female driver of the Journey hit a curb and then lost control of the vehicle and drove onto a sidewalk. The Journey hit a fire hydrant, went through a driveway and struck a Nissan Pathfinder.The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Journey, who has not been identified by SAPD, was taken to the hospital. Police said she showed signs of intoxication and will be booked by proxy for intoxication manslaughter.
Officers at the scene said a total of five people — two children and three adults — were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries.
