The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a clarification stating that it has not made any forecasts regarding the date of Eid-ul-Fitr 2024 in Pakistan. This statement was made in response to several media outlets that quoted the department predicting Eid-ul-Fitr to occur on April 11.
As per these reports, the holy month of Ramazan, which commenced on March 12, will have Pakistanis observing 30 fasts. The sighting of the Shawwal moon, anticipated on April 10, will confirm the exact date of Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.An official from the Met Office in Islamabad stressed that their responsibilities are confined to weather predictions, while the declaration of Eid dates is the responsibility of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
The Cabinet Division had earlier published a list of holidays for the current year.
