In a significant blow to illegal weapons smuggling, a joint operation by frontier Corps North and customs officials has seized a large cache of weapons at the Torkham border crossing, preventing a significant smuggling attempt from Afghanistan into Pakistan.
According to officials, the operation was conducted on a tip-off, and two cargo vehicles were searched at the border crossing, revealing a substantial arsenal of weapons.
The seized weapons include 3 m16 rifles, 2 Beretta pistols, 4000 rounds of ak-47 ammunition, 8 ak-47 bullets, 40 springs, 5 pistol magazines, 8000 rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition, and 1 pistol without a barrel. The drivers of the vehicles and the seized weapons have been handed over to customs authorities for further legal action.
