Police received multiple 911 calls shortly after 6:45 p.m. Sunday, reporting two vehicles firing at each other while weaving down the Embarcadero.

at Stockton and Beach, right in front of Pier 39. According to San Francisco police chief Bill Scott, the cars went"recklessly" weaving down the waterfront — shooting all the while — until one of the cars stopped at Embarcadero and Howard. In their wake, they left a number of injured bystanders. Scott said three people had non-life threatening injures from glass shards sent flying from the gunfire. Two girls, ages 10 and 16, were hit by the cars as they were crossing the street; the 10-year-old needed transport to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries, while the older girl was unharmed. Two individuals inside one of the suspects' cars were shot.
"These individuals were targeting each other," Scott said at a press conference on Sunday evening."We don't believe this was random at all."
