Sean Lake, an officer with the Lower Windsor Township Police Department, was on the scene of a fallen tree that knocked over power lines when he heard a screeching noise. However, he knew that Met Ed would be in the area doing work for hours, which would scare off the raccoons’ parents. The baby raccoons would have been abandoned. So Lake scooped them out with just his arms, realizing just how young they were because their eyes were closed. But as soon as he had them bundled up next to him, they stopped screeching—in fact, the raccoons settled in and started making purring noises, Lake said.
