It was August 1965, the U.S. Marines were in the midst of their first full-scale battle of the Vietnam War, Operation Starlite. A severely wounded Marine lay on that battlefield believing he was dying.
Fox News quoted Field as saying: “I laid there for quite a while – maybe 40 or 45 minutes, and I said, ‘I’m starting to faint so I’m going to bleed out, I know it.’”
