NAROWAL - As many as 21 illegal immigrants have been arrested in Shakargarh tehsil of Narowal district.
According to DSP Shakargarh, the crackdown was continuing in Dinpur road of Riaz market where illegal immigrants were residing. DSP further said that cases have been registered against illegal immigrants under the Foreign Act. All the arrested illegal immigrants were sent to Narowal Jail on judicial remand.

LESCO Operation Vigorously Continues: 421 New Illegal Connections Detected, 58 Culprits ArrestedAnti power theft operations continue in the Lahore Electric Supply Company Region. On the 28th day LESCO along with law enforcement agencies found 421 connections being used for electricity theft and 58 accused have been arrested. All 421 connections have been disconnected and 243 firs have been registered. Seventeen commercial, four agricultural, two industrial and 398 domestics were among the connections. Those involved have been charged 36.6 million rupees. Uptill now 13,057 connections have been checked out of which 12,953 have been found being used for power theft and have been disconnected. A total of 12,204 firs have been registered in this regard, 4,491 accused have been arrested and 1.22 billion rupees have been charged to those involved in power theft in the five Districts of LESCO region which include Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Nankana Sahib and Okara. On the instructions of Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar, the Federal Power Division and under the supervision of LESCO Chief Executive Engineer Shahid Haider, operations against electricity thieves are ongoing in the LESCO region. LESCO's Cheif Executive Engineer Haider has said the anti power theft operations will continue and action will be taken against all those involved in meter tampering and power theft. LESCO has also taken strict administrative action against at least 8 of its senior officers who were found to be complicit in the power theft. Sixteen others were suspended for facilitating electricity theft and neglecting their duties. IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has also stated that police action is being taken against all those involved in power theft throughout Punjab.
