MANILA, Philippines — Sen, Imee Marcos took a swipe on Saturday at the estimate of theSpeaking during her book launch, Marcos said would be more realistic to save ₱500 to buy 1 kilogram of onions.“I don’t know why I embarked on a cookbook at a time when food prices are horrific. [A] five-hundred peso Noche Buena is not real, but it’s more like five hundred pesos per kilo of onions,” Marcos said at the “Pandesal Forum” at the Kamuning Bakery Cafe in Quezon City.
As of late November, a kilogram of onions had a market price of P300 – up from only P180 per kilogram in a similar period last year, according to a Philippine Daily Inquirer report.
