The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in the Philippines is making a significant impact on the lives of nearly 9 million children aged 0-18 by providing cash grants to support their education and well-being.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is providing crucial support to nearly 9 million children aged 0-18. This program offers cash grants designed to ensure children's access to education and maintain their good health.

Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, the DSWD spokesperson, underscored the program's primary objective: keeping children healthy so they can attend school and ultimately break the cycle of poverty within their families. The 4Ps has demonstrably contributed to this goal, functioning as a human capital development program with significant achievements. As of December 2024, the program helped 1,013,769 monitored youth graduate from high school and 476,289 monitored 4Ps children complete their elementary education. Additionally, nearly 40,000 former 4Ps beneficiaries successfully became board passers, with 65 even securing top positions in various licensure examinations. The 4Ps boasts over 4 million active households in 2024, with the highest concentration found in the Bicol Region, encompassing 377,147 4Ps members. The program's commitment to inclusivity is evident in its reach across vulnerable sectors. As of December 2024, 1,223,183 senior citizens, 284,800 solo parents, 269,747 indigenous peoples, and 50,200 persons with disabilities are among the program beneficiaries. These grants enable them to send their eligible children to school and ensure their well-being. Notably, the 4Ps operates across all 18 regions of the country, including the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), demonstrating its nationwide reach. Despite logistical challenges in the BARMM, the 4Ps continues to serve 230,463 active households in the region. The program's gender distribution reveals that as of December 2024, 86 percent of the total 4.4 million registered grantees were female, while 13.98 percent were male. Launched in 2008 and formally institutionalized by Republic Act (RA) 11310 in 2019, the 4Ps serves as the nation's primary poverty reduction strategy and human capital investment program. It provides conditional cash transfers to impoverished households for a maximum duration of seven years to enhance their children's health, nutrition, and education
