The recall affects 2022 Ford Escape and 2022–2023 Bronco Sport models equipped with Ford's 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine.
Ford has issued a recall for 2022 Ford Escape and 2022–2023 Bronco Sport SUVs that are equipped with the base 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine. The recall covers 42,652 vehicles and stems from an issue with fuel injectors potentially cracking, which could potentially lead to a fire in the engine bay. As a remedy, Ford will install a drain tube and update the appropriate software to include a leak detection. Ford has recalled 42,652 Escape and Bronco Sport models that are equipped with the base 1.
According to NHTSA documents, drivers could notice the problem if a leaking fuel injector might create an odor of gasoline inside and out of the vehicle's cabin. Dashboard warning lights may also alert drivers to the issue. Recall documents state that Ford is aware of five underhood fires in the recalled vehicles.Owners of affected cars should have been notified via mail earlier this month, though if you are concerned your vehicle may be included in the warranty, you can check here.
