4-alarm fire engulfs Brooklyn Catholic Church on Easter Sunday
The fire – which occurred at Our Lady of the Rosemary of Pompei at 225 Seigel St., in East Williamsburg – began around 1:48 p.m., according to the NYPD. Five people received minor, non-life threatening injuries, and were being evaluated by emergency medical services, FDNY officials said.
Fire responders were still battling the blaze at the scene on Sunday afternoon. The cause of the fire also remained under investigation, officials said. The building has also been evacuated. And the city’s emergency management system warned people near Siegel Street and McKibbin Court to avoid smoke and close their windows.
