THREE areas in extreme northern Luzon have been placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal 1 due to Tropical Storm Goring .
As of 10 a.m. Friday, Goring was spotted at 225 kilometers east southeast of Basco, Batanes or 270 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan, with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center, gusts of up to 105 km/h, and central pressure of 994 hPa. It was moving slowly south southwestward.
The weather bureau said Goring will continue to bring gusty conditions over Aurora, Bataan, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Dinagat Islands, most parts of Mimaropa, Surigao del Norte and Visayas.“It may reach its peak intensity on Sunday evening, after which it is forecast to maintain strength until the end of the forecast period. The potential for developing into a super typhoon is not ruled out,” Pagasa added.
