Sheriff's office deputies closed Interstate 10 in east Harris County for hours after a fatal crash early Friday.The sheriff’s office says a drunken driver is to blame for a roadside crash early Friday that left three people dead along Interstate 10 in east Harris County.
Jonathan Lazo, 24, has been charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter in connection with the fatal accident in eastern Harris County,MORE HARRIS COUNTY NEWS:Deputies around 12:45 a.m. responded to a crash along Interstate 10, near the exit to Magnolia Street, Capt. Anthony McConnell, of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, told On Scene reporters. Three men, all appearing to be in their 20s, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told investigators the three people had been standing outside of their vehicle that was stopped on the shoulder of the freeway when another driver struck them, McConnell said. Deputies said Lazo showed signs of intoxication at the scene. Detectives closed the highway until about 5 a.m. while they investigated and reconstructed the crash.
