“Given the volatility of world events, we have decided not to move forward with the 2023 MTV EMAs out of an abundance of caution for the thousands of employees, crew members, artists, fans, and partners who travel from all corners of the world to bring the show to life,” MTV EMAs announced on Oct. 20. It added, “The MTV EMAs are an annual celebration of global music.
Organizers earlier announced that BTS’ Jungkook, Anne-Marie, Coi Leray, David Guetta, Manuel Turizo, Ozuna, Rema, Renee Rapp, Sabrina Carpenter, Thirty Seconds to Mars and The Kid Laroi would perform at the event. According to a report by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East , 3,000 people have been killed since Oct. 7 and a further 12,500 injured, citing the Ministry of Health in Gaza. In the West Bank at least 61 Palestinians have been killed since Oct. 7 and at least 1,230 are injured.
