Chevrolet stays on task, fettling with its truck lineup to add more power, features, and technology. Updates are made across the lineup, from Colorado to Silverado HD pickups.
Chevrolet will apply some serious improvements to. Changes include new exterior styling, six new interior colors, and new 18- and 20-inch wheel designs. A new High Country Midnight Edition package provides blacked-out accents and the off-road-focused ZR2 trim becomes available on Chevy's HD trucks for the first time.
Chevy upped the output of the smooth and powerful turbodiesel V-8 engine, as well, to the tune of 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque. The gasoline V-8 powertrain also gets an upgrade; the ancient six-speed automatic transmission has been discontinued in favor of an Allison 10-speed automatic. New trailering tech will become available. The 2024 Silverado HD trucks will be able to use adaptive cruise control while towing, with technology to calculate aerodynamic drag and anticipate greater braking distances. Chevy's Transparent Trailer system has been expanded to work with fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers. Finally, blind-spot monitoring will extend to account for the trailer's blind zones.
On the inside, Chevy reworks the interiors of its HD trucks with a larger available 13.4-inch infotainment screen and 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The interior received other design updates including a new center stack layout. LT, LTZ, and High Country trims receive a new center console design with a wireless charger, and the maximum cupholder count climbs to 10.
