Arizona appears set to have its first Democratic governor in over a decade, as Secretary of State Katie Hobbs is projected by AP to defeat her Republican Party opponent, former television news anchor Kari Lake, in the race to succeed Doug Ducey.
The 2020 election marked the first time since 1996 that a Democratic presidential candidate won the state’s electoral votes. Despite allegations of electoral fraud by former President Donald Trump and others, Multiple reviews in battleground states, including in Arizona, dozens of court cases and Trump’s own Department of Justice have found there was no widespread fraud in the last presidential election.
