BACOLOD CITY – Eighteen candidates in the 2025 mid-term elections in Negros Occidental are unopposed.
Six are mayoral aspirants, seven are vice mayoral candidates, and five are for provincial board member.
The Commission on Elections -Negros Occidental said that unopposed in the mayoral race are incumbents Renato Gustilo in San Carlos City, Salvador Escalante Jr. in Cadiz City, Jose Maria Alonso in Pontevedra, John Paul Alvarez in Ilog town, Leo Rafael Cueva in Sagay City, and Abelardo Bantug III in Victorias City.
For vice mayor, unopposed are Florido Dinapo in Calatrava town, Jugin Jewel Bandolon in Don Salvador Benedicto town, Christopher Paul Carmona in San Carlos City, John Vincent Escalante in Cadiz City, Anthony Gerard Suatengco in Pulupandan town, John Paulo Alvarez in Ilog town, and Oscar Montilla Jr. in Sipalay City.
Unopposed for congressman is reelectionist second district Rep. Alfredo Marañon III; and Marxlen Laurence dela Cruz and Araceli Somosa for first district board member and Sixto Guanzon Jr. and Arthur Christopher Marañon for second district board member. A total of 138 candidates filed their Certificates of Candidacy in the province, including Bacolod City, from October 1 to 8.
