BREAKING UPDATE: 16-year-old athlete identified as victim in shooting at Baytown apartments | Family believes he was followed
Police did not provide the victim's exact age. There was no word on a possible suspect or any arrests in the deadly shooting.A 16-year-old Goose Creek CISD high school athlete is dead after a shooting at an apartment complex in Baytown, according to police.
The parents told ABC13 Shane was at another school's game when he ran into what they called "enemies," who followed him back to the apartment complex. His parents believe that's how the suspects knew where Shane lived. The parents said they heard Shane slam into the front door. When they came out, they saw him bleeding out. Shane's stepdad reportedly tried to perform CPR.
Goose Creek CISD provided the following statement, confirming the victim was a student at Robert E. Lee High School:
