A teen shooting victim in Birmingham was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A teenage boy is fighting for his life at UAB Hospital after police say he was shot Wednesday night in southwest Birmingham.
Officers responded around 8:25 p.m. Wednesday to the 100 block of 1st Avenue Southwest on a ShotSpotter alert indicating seven or eight shots were fired in the area, said Birmingham police spokesman Officer Truman Fitzgerald. When officers arrived on the scene, they learned that a vehicle crashed into a tree a few blocks away at Center Street and 4th Avenue Southwest, said Fitzgerald.
Officers found the male victim, believed to be 14 years old, laying unresponsive in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
