CLEVELAND, Ohio — Out of the hundreds of Northeast Ohio high school seniors who were semifinalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, 14 were named in the first group of winners on Wednesday.Most of these awards are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study and range from $1,000 to $10,000 per year. Recipients can use their awards at any regionally accredited U.S. college or university.
To qualify, students and a high school official submitted a scholarship application, which included academic records, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards.Probable Career Field: Mechanical Engineering
