Police have identified the suspect in a hit-and-run that claimed the life of a teenager in West Jordan.

WEST JORDAN, Utah — A driver who hit and killed a boy riding a bike Tuesday evening in West Jordan has been arrested and identified.

The 13-year-old boy was crossing 9000 South in a marked crosswalk with a signal, witnesses said. A pickup truck hit the boy while turning right from southbound 1510 West onto westbound 9000 South. The driver then turned around and drove off, heading south on 1510 West. The suspect was identified Wednesday morning as Mason Andrews Ohms, age 50, from Saratoga Springs, and he is facing charges related to Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving a Fatality and Automobile Homicide.

The boy's family has been notified, but his name was not immediately released. His parents said he rode his bike to the store to pick up a treat and was on his way home when he was hit by the truck.
