Police said they discovered the boy on the street and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head in the 6700 block of South Lowe Avenue Sunday evening.
A 12-year-old boy was killed in a shooting in Englewood Sunday evening, according to Chicago police. Police said officers responded to a gunshot detection alert in the 600 block of West Marquette Road at about 6:35 p.m. After touring the area, police said they discovered the boy on the street and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head in the 6700 block of South Lowe Avenue.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the boy Monday morning as Damien Green. Ald. William Hall, 6th, said that he’s “outraged” by the shooting, urging residents to allow police to finish their investigation. “Give our officers the opportunity, give them a second, to find out everything that they need to make the right decision,” Hall said. “Tonight again, we mourn, we shed tears, but we need to stop thinking and praying. Thoughts and prayers are not good enough.
