The boy also has two other open cases in juvenile court: one for a burglary that happened in September in North Olmsted, and another for a misdemeanor charge of criminal damaging.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 12-year-old boy is charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy outside Lonnie Burton Recreation Center.
The boy is charged with murder, having a weapon under disability and lesser charges in connection with the Oct. 22 shooting that killed Marlon Oliver. The boy previously pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held in the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center. A competency evaluation is scheduled for Jan. 31.
The shooting happened about 7 p.m. Oct. 22 near the basketball courts outside Lonnie Burton Recreation Center on East 46th Street near Quincy Avenue, in the city’s Central neighborhood.Cleveland police have not released any information about what led up to the shooting, or what linked the 12-year-old boy to the shooting.
