A paid internship in the governor's office is named after Brian Stack, a late governor's aide, and is not related to the state senator and Union City mayor.
Union City Mayor and State Sen. Brian Stack, seen on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023. The recently approved New Jersey state budget includes a $10,000 allocation to the “Brian Stack Internship Program,” but it has nothing to do with the state senator and Union City mayor.
Instead, the program is named after an aide who worked in Gov. Tom Kean’s administration in the 1980s, whose family created an internship fund after his death at the age of 27. The program is a paid internship at the governor’s office, specifically the Office of Constituent Relations, and is awarded to students at The College of New Jersey in Ewing. Stack, the aide, graduated from the school back when it was known as Trenton State College, according to the college’s website.
The Jersey Journal initially reported last week that the program was related to Sen. Stack, one of the most powerful politicians in Hudson County due to his formidable get-out-the-vote machine, which has helped him and his allies win elections by comfortable margins.of the $56.6 billion state budget will go to over two dozen Hudson County projects and programs. Notable spending items in Sen.
