Treasury yields were mostly higher to begin the week and month as investors prepared for a Federal Reserve meeting that is widely expected to deliver another rate increase, but will be watched for signs that policy makers will subsequently consider hitting the pause button.
What yields are doing Market drivers The Federal Reserve will conclude a two-day policy meeting on Wednesday that’s widely expected to see policy makers lift the fed-funds rate by 25 basis points, or a quarter of a percentage point, to a range of 5% to 5.25%. Fed-funds futures show traders have priced in an 84.3% chance of such a move, versus a 15.7% chance for a pause, according to the CME FedWatch tool.

The economic calendar on Monday brings the April S&P U.S. manufacturing purchasing managers index reading at 9:45 a.m. Eastern, while the Institute for Supply Management’s closely watched manufacturing index is due at 10 a.m. March construction spending figures are also set for release at 10 a.m.
