Ahsoka's Star Wars parallels!
Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Ahsoka episodes 1-3Ahsoka features some very impressive parallels to multiple Star Wars movies, connecting to films set both before and after this new show in the galaxy far, far away. Coming from Dave Filoni who worked directly with Star Wars creator George Lucas on The Clone Wars animated series, Ahsoka pays homage to the timeline and established canon in some very satisfying ways.
9 Baylan Skoll's Entrance References Darth Vader In ROTJ Landing their shuttle inside the cruiser's hangar, Baylan's exit down the landing ramp mirrors Darth Vader and his own dynamic entrance in Return of the Jedi. Arriving on the second Death Star to get construction on the battle station back on schedule, the Dark Lord of the Sitih struck an imposing figure as walked down the ramp, his Imperial shuttle still venting its exhaust.
5 Sabine Being Stabbed Mirrors Qui-Gon Jinn Ahsoka episode 1 ends with Shin Hati running Sabine through with her lightsaber following a brief duel. Continuing the parallels between Shin and Darth Maul, Maul did the same thing when he ultimately stabbed and killed Qui-Gon Jinn on Naboo, though thankfully Sabine survived thanks to Ahsoka who got her medical attention. Regardless, it's very cool to see just how many references to The Phantom Menance are present in Ahsoka's premiere.
