The Blackhawks fell to the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday. Here are 10 observations from the loss.
It was not an ideal start for the Blackhawks, who slept-walk through the majority of the first period. They had only three shots on goal in the first 14-plus minutes of action and fell behind 1-0 when Oskar Lindblom redirected Sanheim's shot from the point at the 4:46 mark. It was just the 14th time this season the Flyers held a lead after one period.
I counted at least two blatant missed calls that went against the Blackhawks, who didn't have a single power play in the first two periods and finished with only one in a game that had 13 penalties. Dominik Kubalik got whacked in the face by Justin Braun midway through the first period that eventually led to a 2-on-1 rush chance for the Flyers, and then Patrick Kane was tripped by Sanheim in the later stages of the second period shortly before the Flyers tied it up at 2-2.
