The lovable and adorable dog Odie steals the show from everyone's favorite lasagna-eating cat in these hilarious Garfield comic strips.
Odie made his Garfield debut in 1978, changing the Arbuckle household from that point on. Odie brought a lightness and fun spirit to the Garfield comics that was a departure from the more sardonic laced quips of the famous lasagna-eating cat before Odie's appearance. Funnily enough, Odie was based on a character from a car commercial done by Jim Davis called Odie the Village Idiot.
9 "No Moon Tonight" Resourceful wouldn't be a word that comes to the front of the mind when thinking about Odie. However, in this strip, the word definitely applies. When there is no moon out for the Arbuckle household, the pup pivots and howls at his own little makeshift moon: a red ballon. 7 "The Missing Bone" A running gag throughout the Garfield strip that many fans love is Odie and Garfield's pranks on each other. Garfield is usually the more successful prankster, but Odie has had his shining moments as well. Unfortunately for Odie, this strip has Garfield as the master prankster once again.
5 "Kiss" As lovable as they come, Odie is a sweet natured dog who isn't afraid to show some love to anyone he comes across. It's no surprise then that Odie likes to give his best buddy Garfield a kiss every once in a while. Garfield may try to act like he's too cool for Odie, but deep down he knows he loves the little scamp.
